Boot Camp Graduation

Tim, Rebecca and I were able to go to Chicago and celebrate with Ryan on his graduation from boot camp. He had some great stories to tell and some not so great stories, but Tim and I were so proud to see him standing there. We enjoyed the sights and food of Chicago also. The deep dish pizza is really something you must experience. YUM!

Snow/Ice Day 4

We've been snowed and iced in for 4 consecutive days now. I literally have not left the house, school has been cancelled and all of us are ready for winter to be OVER.

Our words for the year

Every year each of us picks a word that we would like to concentrate on and pray for each other for. Then on Christmas eve we talk about how our words "worked" for us that year.

My word for the year is Fruitful (I Cor 15:14) effective, full, real and founded.

Reading

I have started several times to read the Bible through chronologically in a year. This year is no exception...it's amazing how easily distracted I can get but I am determined this year to do it. Through Genesis and onto Exodus I am so struck by the power of God's name. Exodus 3:15 says " Say to the Israelites, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation." When you've read the account of what the God of those men did, it builds incredible faith to know that the SAME God is my God and is just as powerful and miraculous and just and creative. So along with my Bible reading I am doing a devotional study on the names of God. I hope to share some of my journey here.
